Context
Hwa was an early-stage practice-based research project exploring the relationship between materiality and embodiment through ice, a lit candle, and incense smoke. The project was presented as a showcase followed by an artist talk in 2024.

About the Text
Following the showcase, an art critic responded to the work through a series of reflections and questions. The text considers whether materiality and corporeality can ever be clearly separated, how their boundaries might shift through performance, and whether the physical presence of materials could be replaced by imagination or representation.
