Merry-go-round
Choreography&Performance

Overview:

Information:

Merry-go-round refers both to a carousel and to the relentless cycle of repetition that characterizes contemporary life. The work explores this dual meaning through a body suspended from the ceiling by a wire harness.

Throughout the performance, the harness functions not merely as a theatrical device but as a condition that shapes movement. The performer continuously rotates, swings, and negotiates gravity, existing between control and surrender. Rather than illustrating a character, the performer appears as an individual living in the present day—caught within social systems, psychological repetition, and the endless circulation of everyday life.

As the body repeatedly returns to familiar trajectories, Merry-Go-Round questions whether repetition generates transformation or simply reproduces the same patterns. The work invites audiences to reflect on the invisible conditions that choreograph our bodies long before we choose to move.
